Saxifrage Studio is pleased to offer a special after school art program geared for teens. M.O.N.A. Mondays aim is to provide Mentorship Opportunities to youth interested in Nurturing their Artistic Abilities in an open & safe studio environment. The 7 week session will be dedicated to exploring the medium of paint as tool for self expression with an emphasis on technique, process and experimentation. Through observation and practice students will be encouraged to consider various methods used by pioneer artists of the abstract expressionism movement. This includes strategies and exercises for enhancing creativity, and confidence. Students will be introduced to the alchemy properties of various paint mediums from liquid water colors, acrylic inks, oil paint to Encaustics an ancient painting process using molten pigmented beeswax and a blow torch.
