Class limited to 10 participants.
In this workshop participants will be introduced to the limitless creativity and versatility that the encaustic medium can offer, including easy and effective ways to create texture and incorporate other mediums. This workshop will focus on techniques and processes involved in incorporating mixed media and printed images with encaustic paint. This includes making use of overlapping imagery, using rice/tissue papers, metal leaf and other light weight porous papers as a base while combining other techniques such as photo/drawing transfer, layering and printing. Participants will achieve an added dimension and luminosity to there work only possible with encaustic painting.
Curiculum:
- Appropriate supports and grounds, brushes, tools and studio set up.
- Different ways to apply paint, fusing option.
- How to achieve a smooth/textured surface.
- Mark making and printmaking
- Working with metal leaf and other light weight porous papers
- Relief and textural techniques ( inscribing/etching/ scraffito etc.)
- Inclusion of Alcohol inks and pearl x and much much more
