Immersive Encaustic Landscape Retreat May 25 & 26, 2024
Tracey Bryant is pleased to offer a special two-day process based Immersive Encaustic Landscape Retreat at a beautiful location off the Ingram Trail , near Prelude Lake, NWT.
In this 2 -day workshop, Tracey will reveal the processes and inspirations behind her Canadian shield landscape based encaustic work. This includes various techniques she uses to create highly tactile surfaces to embody an emotional response and visceral memory of a place.
She will demonstrate the parallels of working with Encaustics an ancient art form with the geological phenomena & processes that shaped the ancient shield landscape surrounding Yellowknife over millions of years such as erosion, weathering, glacier deposition to the building up, excavating scrapping back, heating, cooling, incising & carving techniques she uses in Encaustics.
Leading participants through daily observational drawing exercises & techniques, Tracey will invite participants to immerse themselves fully in the landscape to explore their intuitive & sensory responses to their physical environment through shape, line value ,patterns ,texture and expressive mark making.
